News From The Campaign Trail
Unfortunately, Rep. Walden’s slanderous efforts harm our Republic more than they harm my campaign. One of the propaganda pieces makes the statement, “Dennis wants to take away your
Throughout our primary season, I have repeatedly invited Congressman Walden to debate me on current issues. I think that the voters have every right to know precisely who they are voting for and what makes Mr. Walden and I different. However, time after time, Rep. Walden refused to honor my requests. For someone who won’t talk to me in person, he sure seems to know a lot about my opinions, huh?

Greg Walden in Oregon's primary election to be held on May 20, 2014. Political reporters make a big deal out of Walden's bottomless pockets. Jeff Mapes at www.oregonlive.com reported on April 21 of this year that Walden had raised $500,000 the first three months of this year. Linthicum raised just under $13,000 in those same three months and that amount included a $6500 loan from Linthicum himself to his own campaign.[1] Presently an elected Klamath County commissioner, Linthicum's working career has included software developer and owner of a small ranch.[2] I was invited to a noon meeting back in March where Dennis spoke, introducing himself to the crowd as a "Constitutional Conservative". The Constitution equals freedom, liberty and rights he expanded, and added that government regulations are ruining business. One of the latest “hypocrisy” mailings from Rep. Walden’s office gives us just enough insight to expose Greg’s own historic shortcomings.
The media elites and political machines are obsessing over the unsurprising story that my opponent (a lifelong politician) has much more money than I do. These Beltway elitists and political reporters think that campaigns are won and lost by out-of-state money and lobbyist power - may the man with the largest war-chest win. I want to tell a different story - the rest of the story. I want to tell you about the rancher who left his fields early to come to a Tea Party meeting and hand me a crumpled 20-dollar bill, about the retirees on a fixed-income who offered me their spare room as we traveled the district and their energy as they put up signs and told friends about my campaign. I want to tell you about the veteran who shook my hand at a Band of Brothers meeting and wrote me a $100 check, about the countless hard-working Oregonians who have admitted that they have nothing to offer my campaign but their time and their vote. It's the story of moms and dads, legal immigrants and business people, first-time public servants and ranchers, who banded together and declared that it was time for the Constitution to matter, time for change, time for a return to American prosperity and freedom. Take the time to watch and be inspired - we will not stop fighting and we will not give up hope! In the May 20 primary election, area Republicans can cast a vote for a congressional candidate other than Rep. Greg Walden – and I encourage them to do just that. Klamath County Commissioner Dennis Linthicum has courageously entered the turbulent water of challenging an entrenched Republican congressman, one who has not only been in office for 15 years but is ingrained in the staid, ineffective GOP leadership in the House of Representatives. Read More >Walk into any Republican meeting and you see it - folks 50 years and older (like Diane and myself) who are primarily concerned with the future for their children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, many young people (those same kids and grandkids) are too busy, too apathetic or simply don't see how politics affects them and so they tend not to participate in such events. I want to challenge young people - even though you may be skiing in Bend or going to college in Ashland, and even if you feel that the issues you hear on the news don't affect you, they do and they will. I wager that most young people saw Bundy Ranch on the news but didn't see how a grandfatherly rancher's fight in Nevada affects them, and so brushed it off. Read More >Dear Friends,
If you have received the Oregon Right to Life voter guide, you will see that ORTL is “recommending Greg Walden”. |
